On Wednesday 13 March 2013 Carshalton College took part in the National No Smoking Day. Representatives from the College local chemist and Sutton Youth Service came into the College and spoke to students throughout the morning on the dangers of smoking. A video showing the damage smoking can cause was played in the College corridor for students and staff to see throughout the day. This week is Eating Disorders Awareness Week and B-Eat are using the week to spread the message that Everybody knows somebody – eating disorders are more common than you think. This serious mental illness is affecting someone you know right now – in your street, in your school, in your workplace, even in your own home. Over 1.6 million people in the UK are affected by eating disorders including people of all ages and backgrounds. B-Eat are encouraging people to help the person they know whether it’s your girlfriend, a work colleague, your best friend or your brother – reach out, talk to them and offer support. Get ready to celebrate Sutton’s local libraries on Saturday 9 February for National Libraries Day!
